The Eressos Tourism Association
The Eressos Tourism Association (Φορέα Ανάπτυξης και Προβολής Ερεσού) is an organisation that is dedicated to promoting tourism in Eressos, a picturesque village on the island of Lesvos, Greece. They offer detailed information on where to stay, food and drink options, and upcoming events, ensuring tourists have a seamless travel experience.
The association plays an active role in the community through various initiatives like the “Let’s Do It Greece” campaign. This volunteer campaign is aimed at improving the aesthetics and cleanliness of the local beach and villages. This involvement reinforces their mission to promote Eressos not just as a travel destination, but also as a responsible community that cares for its environment and people.
Further events and activities include the annual Eressos Food Festival, which showcases the region’s culinary delights and traditions, and the Eressos LAVA WKND, a thrilling running and biking event. The association promotes birdwatching, highlighting the region’s rich biodiversity. Such events not only attract tourists but also engage the local community, fostering a sense of pride and ownership.
In terms of infrastructure, the Eressos Tourism Association boasts a state-of-the-art conference room space, formerly known as the Skala Eressos Town Hall. This facility, equipped with cutting-edge audio-visual equipment, is available for businesses and organisations to host conferences, meetings, or seminars. It has been utilised for various events, contributing to the vibrant dialogue on tourism development and sustainability in the region.
For those interested, in Greek the conference room is called “Αίθουσα” (pronounced: Ethousa), but on the programme of events we call it the “Tourist Board Conference Room”. It is located above Antonis Restaurant, with the entrance on the street-side where the column is.
Through their work and mission, and their diverse events and amenities, the Eressos Tourism Association contributes significantly to the vibrant tourism landscape of the area, actively promoting Eressos as a dynamic, engaging, and attractive destination for tourists worldwide.
Sappho Women is incredibly grateful that the Eressos Tourism Association continues to support our International Eressos Women’s Festival, by providing us with much needed workshop and seminar space in their conference room, and in 2023 they intend to offer a number of events on the programme, thus aligning themselves further with the goals and mission of our non-profit company.
