Even in Another Time: Sappho Through Our Eyes
We will begin by reading together a few of the most famous translations of Sappho poems, lines, and fragments. We will discuss the relevance of it today in our lives, anything it inspires us to do or create. I will show the group some examples of specific artworks inspired by Sappho & the beauty of the landscape around us- encouraging people to explore & mix mediums.
Then we will have a short break for people to peruse & choose a piece of Sappho’s work that resonates most with them. After the break, we will work together on our projects for the remainder of the time allotted. For any participants who choose, I’d love to host further group work-sessions and perhaps a performance/exhibition of the Sappho-inspired works we create!
